Your June 2021 XTON Access Manager Newsletter!

We have made several enhancements to the XTAM product. This includes:

  • Embedded Session Metadata in Converted Video Recordings
  • Account-Centered Host Selector with Supported Whitelist
  • Account Management for Brocade network devices
  • Universal Proxy Port for Simplified Deployments
  • SQL Proxy Beta

We are now enrolling participants in a new SQL Proxy Beta Program. If you are interested in participating, email us at

Details on all the XTAM updates are below.

Session video recordings converted into MOV or MP4 formats can now have the recorded events from that session embedded into the video playback. The Session Events will appear as burned-in subtitles during the video playback. Or they can optionally appear streamed, which will allow the events to be enabled or disabled much like closed captioning. Both options provide more contextual information about the specific session including start and end times, session owner and specific events that occurred during this privileged remote session.

Owners can now configure their record to support a whitelisted Host selector that easily allows a single set of privileged credentials to be used with a pre-approved list of Hosts for connection. When the custom field Hosts is added to your record type, simply enter a comma-separated lists of hosts or host:port values that will be allowed for connection and when the Connect option is used, a Host selector dialog will appear where the user may select a single available host to establish their remote session. This extends the existing prompt features like User and Port options to support more controllable session management options in XTAM.

XTAM now supports account management options for Brocade network devices. This includes Brocade specific Check Status and Password Reset scripts that can be used with the existing Unix Host record type to provide management capabilities of these devices.

The XTAM Universal Proxy port combines both the RDP and SQL proxy servers to the same port, rather than two individual ports, to reduce the configuration and deployment requirements of XTAM nodes.

Enrolling Participants in the new SQL Proxy Beta Program
With the introduction of the new XTAM SQL Proxy (beta), privileged users can now use their native Oracle clients such as sqlplus, SQL Developer, Toad, Squirrel and more to connect to remote Oracle RDBMS instances without the disclosure of the privileged database credentials. In addition to the secure connection itself, XTAM can also capture and report the commands that are executed against this managed Oracle instance during their connected proxy session. If you are interested in joining the SQL Proxy beta, please reach out to or stay tuned for its production release due soon.

Improving OT Security
The Colonial Pipeline cyberattack brings operational technology/OT security strategies to the forefront. Companies need to evaluate their risk and build a strategy for securing their operational systems. Best practices include: making sure all software is updated, backing up systems, using password management for IoT devices, implementing zero-trust access policies and investing in privilege access management software.
